Further North, Miyagi and Iwate
Gradually my engagement with the Tohoku disaster and recovery areas has expanded northwards to include interviews, inspirational meetings and new friendships in Miyagi and Iwate Prefectures. Following the loss of my brother thorugh suicide, I made two powerful visits to the legendary Phone of the Wind - emotional and very healing experiences. Along the way I have met so many powerful stories of trauma and healing, and in Autumn 2024 made a 300+ km hike from Ishinomaki to Unosumai along the Michinoku Trail.
